Lawrence County youth wrestlers to get big send off for state tournament

LOUISA, Ky. – Nearly thirty youth wrestlers will be state bound this Friday, and Louisa plans to send them off in style.

The Lawrence County Bulldogs Youth Wrestling team will send 29 participants – 26 youth and three middle schoolers – to the 2026 Kentucky Youth Wrestling State Tournament in Louisville this weekend.

Plans to send the athletes off in style. Beginning at noon the team will be escorted around town by the local fire departments as they head out to compete on February 19, with action beginning the following day at Broadbent Arena in Louisville.

On behalf of the wrestling coaching staff, Joshua Diamond posted his congratulations on Facebook Monday.

“These young athletes have put in countless hours of hard work, sweat, and dedication to qualify for this moment,” Diamond said. “Making it to the state tournament is an incredible accomplishment, and they have truly earned every bit of it. This is something they will remember for the rest of their lives, and our entire program is beyond proud of each and every one of them.”

The tournament will begin February 21 and close out on February 22.
