ERMINE – The Letcher Central Cougars pounded out 15 hits and scored early and often in rolling to a 28-1 win over Cordia in the opening round of the 53^rd District tournament played on Monday.

The Cougars will now face Knott Central at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the championship. Both teams will advance to 14^th Region tournament next week.

Cameron Whitaker had four hits and drove in five runs as the Cougar improved to 13-15. Nick Mason and Trevor Hardin collected two hits each and both knocked in four runs.

Manny Gibson was the winning pitcher for the Cougars. Camron Stidham suffered the loss.
