PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County woman is accusing a Letcher County sheriff’s deputy of forcing her to have sex with him in exchange for favorable treatment.
Sabrina Adkins, 45, of Pikeville, filed a lawsuit against the deputy, Ben Fields, as well as Sheriff Mickey Stines in federal court on Monday.
Adkins was arrested in Letcher County after being indicted on drug charges, and was placed under home incarceration in June. Fields was assigned to oversee her home incarceration, but allegedly removed her ankle bracelet and told her she wouldn’t have to pay for monitoring if they could “work something out.”
After that, Adkins claims Fields met her in the district judge’s chambers at night on six occasions for sex. Adkins says she only complied because of Fields’s position of power and her inability to afford the ankle monitor.
The lawsuit is asking for compensatory and punitive damages.
Neither Fields nor Stines has answered the lawsuit, but the Mountain Eagle reports Fields has been suspended from his position, pending an investigation.
