
SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man has been charged with rape, sodomy and sex abuse of a child under the age of 12.
Stuart Horton, 30, of Salyersville, was under investigation for sexually abusing his step-daughter, when he was asked to come in to Kentucky State Police Post 9 on Monday to take a lie-detector test.
After the test, police say Horton immediately became apologetic and began confessing his crimes.Horton reportedly told police the abuse began when the girl was 8 or 9 years old and continued until 2021. He was taken into custody and lodged in the Pike County jail.
If convicted, the rape and sodomy charges carry potential sentences of 10-to-20 years, while the sex abuse charge carries a sentence of 5-to-10 years.
The case will now be presented to a Magoffin County grand jury.
