SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man is facing a recommended 10-year prison sentence, after pleading guilty to charges involving the sexual exploitation of children and animals.
Kent Simpkins, 43, of Salyersville, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of distributing child porn of a victim under 12, five counts of possessing child porn, and one count of sexual crimes against an animal.
Simpkins came under investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch after he was discovered uploading pornographic images of children on social media. Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said police found pornographic videos of children and animals when they raided his home back in May, including one video of Simpkins having sex with the family dog.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors are recommending a 10-year prison sentence and lifetime registration on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. He will be formally sentenced in March.
