Marijuana Marijuana

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Pikeville is set to receive two dispensaries and Floyd County will get one, when medical marijuana goes on sale in January, following a drawing Monday to award licenses to the businesses.

Two businesses were awarded licenses to operate in Pikeville, Kentuckyzen and Reed KY Dispensary.
Over in Floyd County, BSRKYAPP was awarded a license to operate in Martin.

The lottery awarded four licenses in nine regions across the state. Much of Eastern Kentucky is in the Mountain Region, and the fourth license went to HYE Property Management in Stanton.

The Mountain Region consists of Breathitt, Clay, Estill, Floyd, Jackson, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Powell and Wolfe counties.

Medical marijuana sales will become legal in Kentucky on Jan. 1.

A second lottery will be held Dec. 16 to award licenses in the areas around Lexington and Louisville.
