Man accused of bringing several pounds of meth into Pike County

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  A Pike County man is facing federal drug charges after being caught with two and a half pounds of meth.   33 year old John Curtis Maynard of Jonancy was arrested this week by US Marshals on charges relating to an incident that happened on New Year’s Eve in Magoffin County. That’s when police found more than two pounds of meth wrapped up in several plastic bags in a vehicle Maynard was riding in. According to the criminal complaint filed in federal court, Maynard told State Police detectives he purchased the meth for $14,000 dollars in Louisville that day, and had made the same trip and transaction several times in a two week period.  Maynard allegedly told police he was buying the meth to sell to various people in Pike County.  Maynard is lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
