SITKA, Ky. — A Johnson County man is in jail for allegedly shooting his son because he wouldn’t stop yelling.
Deputies were called to a report of a shooting Friday night at a home on Route 1559, at Sitka. When they arrived, they found the victim had already been taken to the hospital and located Timothy Rivers, 61, sitting in a chair, allegedly smoking a marijuana pipe, with his gun laying in front of him.
In a recorded interview, Rivers allegedly told deputies his son came into the room where he was sitting yelling, and Rivers told him to be quiet or he would hurt him. He said the son continued yelling, so Rivers “shot the hell out of him.”
Police also found several marijuana plants growing in the house.
Rivers was arrested and charged with attempted murder, wanton endangerment and cultivating marijuana. He is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
