PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A U.S. magistrate judge has recommended that the federal courts accept a guilty plea by a Pike County woman accused of child sex trafficking.

Kena Reed, 28, of Pinson Fork, pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking and producing child pornography in court. If the plea agreement is accepted, charges of distributing child porn and crossing state lines with a minor for sexual conduct would be dismissed.

In court, she admitted to providing a minor female to various men for commercial sex acts, in exchange for money and drugs. Those acts took place in both Kentucky and West Virginia.

As part of the plea agreement, Reed and prosecutors agreed to a 20-year prison sentence, followed by 10 years of supervision upon her release. She will also agree to pay the victim $5,000 in restitution.

Reed is accused of trading sexual images of herself and a minor to Jacob West, 33, of Pinson Fork, for pills. West is accused of stealing 5,000 pills from the South Williamson Food City.

Both were originally charged with human trafficking and other charges in Pike Circuit Court back in 2019, but Reed’s case was picked up by federal authorities last August.

West’s case remains pending in Pike Circuit Court. He is next scheduled to appear in court on June 11.
