Man Behind Bars After High Speed Pursuit

A Williamson man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly led police on a high speed pursuit.

It happened Tuesday on U-S 119 when Williamson Police attempted to stop 30-year-old Jerry Fields for speeding.

That is when Fields sped away from officers reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. During the chase, Fields was coming around a curve, when he hit the front of a patrol vehicle causing around 650-dollars in damage. He eventually ran off the road ending the pursuit. According to our media partner, WCHS, Fields is charged with felony fleeing, reckless driving, destruction of property, and several other traffic violations. He is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on a ten thousand dollar bond.
