INEZ, Ky. — A Martin County man has been charged with attacking a deputy who was trying to arrest him.

The deputy went to a home on Bowen Lane, in Inez, to arrest 47-year-old Christopher Marcum for not showing up to court for a meth possession charge.

Marcum was found hiding under a blanket and placed under arrest, but refused to walk to the police car. As he was being taken away, he allegedly bit the deputy on the arm, then kicked him in the leg. He then told the officer he was HIV positive.

In addition to the meth possession charge, Marcum now faces additional charges of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
