Man charged with Floyd woman’s murder

BEAVER, Ky. — An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of a woman whose body was found Friday in Floyd County.

Kentucky State Police responded to a report on an unresponsive woman along Route 979 at Beaver. When they arrived, they found Sarah Slone, 35, of Beaver, dead of a gunshot wound.

Also at the scene was 35-year-old Joshua Gayheart, of Beaver, who admitted to tampering with evidence at the scene. He was arrested on a charge of evidence tampering at that time.

On Monday, he was also charged with murder for Slone’s death.

No details have been released regarding a motive.
