WHITESBURG, Ky. — A Letcher County man is facing charges of burglary and wanton endangerment, after police say the left a drug pipe in the pocket of a pair of children’s pants hanging on the rack at Walmart.

Whitesburg Police were called to the store Saturday evening after staff spotted 37-year-old Dustyn Bowman, of Whitesburg, come inside. Bowman was ordered to stay out of the store after a shoplifting conviction in 2022.
When he saw the officers entering the store, police say Bowman ran out the back door. He was found a short time later hiding in some bushes behind Lee’s Famous Recipe and arrested.
Police then reviewed Walmart security video to see what Bowman did while in the store. That’s when they saw him slip something into the pocket of a pair of children’s jeans. They then went to get the pants and found a glass pipe with brown residue inside.
Bowman has been charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree wanton endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
