SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man who was arrested earlier this year for allegedly assaulting his mother has now been indicted in the case.
Brian Clay Perkins, 40, of Salyersville, has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault, for the attack on his mother as well as a man who tried to help her, and one count of first-degree burglary.
Back in March, witnesses told officers that Perkins kicked in the door of his mother’s house and began beating her. The woman was able to get away from him and tried to lock herself in a van, but Perkins was able to get the door open and allegedly continued hitting his mother in the van.
Witnesses also told police that a man attempted to stop the attack, but Perkins allegedly grabbed a logging chain and beat that man with it.
Perkins had been jailed on a $10,000 cash bond, but was released in May, after two months had passed without an indictment. He was re-arrested following his indictment and is now being held on a $3,000 cash bond.
