PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County man is in jail, after police say he threatened a business owner at knifepoint.

It happened last in Paintsville, when police were informed of the incident at the Original 606 Hemp Company, on Main Street. Police say the man tried to hide from them, but an officer spotted him peeking around a corner.

When they found the man — identified as 39-year-old David Stambaugh — he reportedly tried to tell them it was a fake knife. However, police recovered a real, fixed-blade knife while searching him.

Stambaugh was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, fleeing police and public intoxication.
