Man indicted for Floyd County hit-and-run

TEABERRY, Ky. — A Madison County man was indicted in Floyd County, Wednesday, after a hit-and-run incident in July of last year.

According to court documents, Kyle Collins, 23, of Berea, failed to stop and render assistance after a motor vehicle collision resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

Court documents also say Collins should have known the pedestrian died or suffered serious physical injury.

It happened on Route 979 by D’s Grocery at Teaberry on July 1st of last year. Larry Hinkle, 60, of Teaberry, was struck by a vehicle while walking along the side the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson.

Kyle Collins is charged with leaving the scene of a accident, which is punishable by 1-to-5 years in prison.
