SHELBIANA, Ky. – Thursday night, police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle possibly making meth on a strip job in Pike County. A Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officer and a State Trooper responded, and located the vehicle, driven by 40 year old Kirby Sanders. When police tried to approach Sanders, he fled in a red Jeep for several miles on the strip job. At one point, officers say Sanders narrowly missed four hunters beside a vehicle with lights on who were running and conditioning their dogs. Sanders vehicle struck one of the dogs, identified as a beagle. Sanders then left the vehicle and ran from the officers on foot, but was soon after tased and taken into custody. Kirby Sanders was charged with DUI, fleeing from officers in a vehicle and on foot, cruelty to animals, wanton endangerment and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
