State troopers were called Wednesday to a home on Widows Branch at Stopover, after a resident reported that her neighbor, Tyrone Davis, 43, was illegally cutting trees near her house. But police had another reason for wanting to find Davis — he was wanted on four warrants for meth trafficking, heroin trafficking, receiving stolen property and bail jumping.

When an officer arrived at the scene, he saw several people standing around Davis’ car in the driveway. When the trooper shined a spotlight on the car, he saw Davis get out and start walking away.

The officer ordered Davis to stop but said he continued walking away, then crouched behind a pickup truck. As the trooper approached Davis, he saw him make a throwing motion and heard something land underneath the truck.

After placing Davis under arrest for the warrants, the officer then found a bag of meth under the truck. Davis then told the officer it contained half an ounce, but the officer wrote in his report that it looked more like a full ounce. No official weight was given in the police report.

In addition to the warrants, Davis was also taken to jail on a new charge of first-degree meth trafficking. He is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
