Kentucky State Police investigated a report of a suspected DUI Saturday afternoon, after a caller reported that four adults and some children went into a bathroom at the Louisa Wendy’s restaurant and appeared to be under the influence when they came out.

A state trooper found the suspects driving on U.S. 23, about five miles north of Louisa. After stopping the vehicle, police asked the driver, Sky Bentley, 33, of Portsmouth, to submit to a field sobriety test, which showed signs of impairment.

Bentley then gave permission for police to search the vehicle, and officers had everyone get out, which included four small children, three of whom were sitting in the floor. The search resulted in the discovery of a bag of heroin, two bags of crack cocaine and a large amount of cash.

Bentley was arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin and crack cocaine, importing heroin, aggravated DUI, wanton endangerment and several other charges.

A passenger was also arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge after he handed police a bag of the drug when getting out of the vehicle.

Both were booked in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, in Paintsville.
