Marshall MBB Renews Rivalry with No. 23/24 Miami (OH) in MAC/SBC Challenge with Sold Out Crowd

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men’s Basketball team (15-8, 7-4 SBC) welcomes the No. 23/24 Miami (OH) RedHawks on Saturday afternoon for the MAC/SBC Challenge in the Cam Henderson Center. Opening tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Saturday’s contest marks the first time January 8, 2015, that a ranked opponent has come to Huntington when Old Dominion was ranked 25th.

PRE-GAME NOTES

  • MU rallied for a second-half 81-77 comeback victory over Southern Miss on Wednesday night in the Cam Henderson Center.
  • Wyatt Fricks tallied his third game of the season of 20 or more points with a game-high 25.
  • Jalen Speer’s 133 assists lead the SBC and sits 29th nationally. The graduate student has had back-to-back games with eight assists.
  • Matt Van Komen ranks sixth in the country with 58 blocks this season.
  • This is the first time since Jan. 8, 2015, that a ranked team (No. 25 Old Dominion) has visited the Cam Henderson Center.

  • Miami (OH) enters Saturday on a 23-game winning streak after a win at Buffalo on Tuesday night and is one of two undefeated teams in the nation with Arizona.
  • The RedHawks lead the country in field-goal percentage at 53.6 percent from the field and points per game scoring at 92.8 a clip.
  • They have six student-athletes averaging double-figure scoring this season led by Brant Byers’ 15.2 points per game.
