Martin County lawyer suspended ‘indefinitely’

FRANKFORT, Ky. –The Kentucky Supreme Court has suspended the license of a Martin County attorney indefinitely, after she allegedly mishandled two adoption cases.

Complaints were filed with the Kentucky Bar Association against Christy Smith Grayson for her conduct in the two cases.

In one case, she allegedly failed to do the work she had been hired to perform, failed to respond her client’s attempts to communicate with her, and failed to refund the fee she had been paid.

Grayson allegedly had the same violations in the second case, but also allegedly provided her client with a fraudulent document saying the adoption had gone through.

After the complaints were filed, Grayson did not respond to the charges, and the Bar recommended that her license be suspended indefinitely.

The Supreme Court agreed on Sept. 28. The suspension takes effect Oct. 8.
