INEZ, Ky. — A Martin County man has been indicted after being accused of holding a woman against her will and beating her.
Jimmy Scott, 46, of Inez, has been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault and strangulation.
The charges date back to an incident in June, when police received a report of a domestic dispute in progress. When police arrived on the scene, the alleged victim accused Scott of taking her phone and car keys, and keeping her captive for approximately three weeks. She claimed he would beat and choke her every day.
Police documented finding several bruises on her face, limbs and body, as well as a cigarette burn on her arm.
The woman said she was finally able to get help after convincing Scott to let her use his phone to call her son about her grandchildren. She then used the phone to message her son to get help for her.
Scott was arrested following the indictment, but has since been released on bond. He is due back in court in December for a review of the case.
