Mayor: City of Coal Run hits flood stage

Most areas around Eastern Kentucky are dealing with a high amount of flooding due to the excess amounts of rain these past few days.

According to the City of Coal Run Mayor Andrew Scott, Coal Run entered flood stage around 7:00 PM Thursday night.

Scott says the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River was at 35.34′, expected to crest at 37.6′. There have been reports of multiple structures underwater throughout Coal Run.

Everyone is encouraged to seek higher ground if you live in a low-lying area prone to river flooding.
