
UPDATE: The Letcher County Community News-Press is reporting that police are on the scene where a body was found on Haymond Hill near Neon. The paper is reporting that police believe the body is that Ricky Gibson. The paper is reporting the body found is that of a person who died as a result of a gunshot wound, and that the body has been at the scene for several days.
Two people are facing murder charges in relation to an ongoing missing persons investigation in Letcher County.
According to court documents, 38-year-old Clifford Jermaine Caudill, of Welch Hollow in Neon, and Dedra Anne Keathley, 50, of Joes Creek in Pike County, were arrested and charged with the murder, and the hiding of the body of Ricky Gibson. Police had been investigating Gibson’s disappearance.
According to court documents, detectives interviewed Caudill and Keathley at Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard in relation to the case. Court documents said Keathley was uncooperative with detectives, but they indicated that Caudill was cooperative and provided information on the case.
According to an arrest citation, Caudill told detectives that an altercation occurred inside of a bathroom at his residence at Welch Hollow in Neon between he, Ricky Gibson and two other individuals, one of whom was identified in court documents as Keathley. The altercation, court documents said, resulted in the shooting death of Gibson.
Court documents said Caudill, Keathley and another individual, who was not named in the arrest citations filed in the case, transported Gibson’s body from the scene in an attempt to conceal the alleged murder.
Both Caudill and Keathley were charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. They were lodged in the Letcher County Jail. Ricky Gibson’s body had not yet been found as of the publishing of this report.
Kentucky State Police spokesperson MTpr. Jody Sims said the investigation is ongoing.
