A Pike County woman was arrested recently on a child endangerment charge.
According to court documents, Melinda Adams, 34, of Big Hackney’s Creek in Mouthcard, was arrested last week by Kentucky State Police after a follow up visit with social services from a previous encounter. According to court documents, police noticed one of Adams’ children had packcake syrup on its face and in its hair just as it had two days prior. Adams allegedly told police that she had fallen asleep and had not had time to bathe her children in the past few days.
Police also noted that the residence had electrical wires taped to the floor throughout the house. They also wrote in court documents that the house had no hot water, nor did it have heat or electricity anywhere except for the living room.
Court documents also said Adams had failed to follow a prevention plan put into place by social services.
Adams pleaded not guilty to the charge of endangering the welfare of a minor and was released on her own recognizance. She is due back in court on the child endangerment charge in July.
