More than a dozen arrested in Pike County drug roundup

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  Pike County police agencies wrapped up some undercover investigations on Friday with a roundup of more than twenty people accused of trafficking in illegal drugs.  The Pikeville Police Department was out in force Friday, as was the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, with a long list of drug trafficking warrants.  Officers and Deputies went to residences both in the city and throughout the county, attempting to locate as many of the wanted individuals as possible.  Lt. Eddie Crum with the Sheriff’s Office says Friday’s roundup was the the result of a nearly 5 month long investigation by the department’s newly formed Narcotics division. This week, the Pike County Grand Jury returned dozens of indictments as a result of both departments’ investigations.  Friday, officers were able to locate and arrest eight of the 13 on the Pike County Sheriff’s Office list, plus several more people who were either in possession of drugs or had outstanding warrants.  Officials with both agencies say efforts will continue until all in custody.
