Frankfort, KY — This Saturday is National Drug Take Back Day and Kentucky State Police are encouraging people to participate as a way to combat drug misuse. The program allows people to remove potentially dangerous medicines from homes and dispose of them safely. All 16 Kentucky State Police Posts will be collection sites and will be available from 10 AM to 2 PM October 26th. This will be the 18th National Drug Take Back Day. The campaign has resulted in millions of pounds of opioids and other medicines being gathered reducing possible drug misuse. For the first time, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and law enforcement will dispose of vaping devices and cartridges. Officials say the rising concerns of vaping-linked illnesses prompted the addition of the disposal of the vaping devices and cartridges.
