Nearly 80 security cameras keep watch in the city of Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  The City of Pikeville recently moved its Dispatch Center for the Police and Fire Departments to a building on Scott Avenue, leaving its longtime home at the Pikeville Police Department.  Pikeville Public Safety Director Paul Maynard says in addition to less foot traffic and distractions, dispatchers now have more room AND time to monitor the city’s extensive closed circuit camera system of nearly 80 cameras.  Maynard says the extra eyes on the cameras will come in especially handy during special events in the city, like Hillbilly Days, which kicks off Thursday morning.
