Officials: Quick thinking and response contains Jenkins apartment fire

Officials in Jenkins are crediting quick thinking and a quick emergency response for preventing a tragic outcome in an overnight apartment fire.

The fire occurred in one of the Old Jenkins School apartments. Officials said the fire occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The fire was contained to the apartment of origin and the residents of the building, who are mostly elderly residents, were all safely evacuated. Some were treated for smoke-related issues.

The fire remains under investigation. A cause has not yet been officially determined.
