Pike County, Ky.–Pikeville Medical Center and East Kentucky Broadcasting held a radio telethon in mid-September to raise money for those affected by the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida. By the end of the telethon over 85-thousand dollars had been collected.
Today, representatives from East Kentucky Broadcasting met with Red Cross officials at PMC to present them with the heartfelt donations made by the people of Eastern Kentucky.
“This was a community effort and what I believe community should be all about. As an individual people may think there is not a lot they can do, but when we all get together we can make a difference. This is not just on a local community level, this is on a national community level, and we are helping our fellow Americans. This is community service, this is us getting together and making a difference. “
