INEZ, Ky. – A Paintsville man is in jail following a road rage incident Sunday night that spanned three counties and included gunshots. Martin County Sheriff John Kirk says 63 year old Billy York allegedly became upset with the driver of a pickup truck on US 23 in Johnson County. Once entering Lawrence County, York is accused of firing a gun several times at the truck, hitting the vehicle two and a half feet from where a five year old was sitting. Sheriff Kirk stopped York in Martin County, where he was arrested. Partially hidden under the driver’s seat was a pistol. Also found in the vehicle was a rifle and multiple shell casings. York was charged with first degree wanton endangerment, a felony, and carrying a concealed weapon. He remains lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
