PHELPS – Phelps punched its ticket to the 15th Region tournament for the first time since 2008 with a 6-2 win over Belfry in the opening round of the 60th District tournament on Monday night.
With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, the Hornets rallied to score four runs, including three on Kinzer Dotson’s fly ball to leftfield which was lost in the lights and fell behind the outfielder. Dotson also scored on a throwing error.
