Pike Central Band students honored as one of three distinguished bands statewide

Students of the Pike County Central High School band were recently awarded music scholarships. Nationwide, music programs are in danger of being defunded despite evidence that proves students in music courses have better academic success. According to DoSomething.org, schools with music programs have an estimated 90.2% graduation rate and 93.9% attendance rate compared to schools without music education, which average 72.9% graduation and 84.9% attendance.
