Pike County Courthouse shuts down due to bedbugs

bugsPIKEVILLE, Ky. — Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Pike County Courthouse in Pikeville closed Wednesday. According to Pike County Clerk Rhonda Taylor, a customer was processing paperwork in the clerk’s office. Once the customer paid a deputy clerk, bugs reportedly came out of the money and scattered. Taylor immediately called exterminators and they confirmed the insects were in fact bed bugs. Taylor told EKB News the incident was contained. The process to exterminate the insects would take approximately eight hours which was what prompted the closure of the courthouse. The courthouse will open back up Thursday during regular business hours.
