Pike County, US Army Corps of Engineers partner for Fishtrap Lake cleanup efforts

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  The debris and trash that flows into Fishtrap Lake is a frequent problem for boaters and fishermen. But, an agreement was signed on Wednesday that will add more manpower to the effort to remove it.  The Pike County Fiscal Court and the US Army Corps of Engineers signed a partnership agreement to work toward keeping Fishtrap Lake a little cleaner, thanks to a Kentucky Waste Management Grant of nearly $140,000 dollars.  Much of the debris found in the lake flows in from Virginia.  And, Judge Executive Ray Jones says he hopes to convince Virginia officials to take preventative measures to stop the debris from reaching the Kentucky lake.   The grant will fund cleanup efforts near the Marina that will begin this spring.
