BIG BRANCH, Ky. — A Pike County man has been charged with cruelty to animals, after he allegedly shot a dog numerous times. And it was all captured on a neighbor’s security camera.

Robert Ferguson Jr., 44, of Bowling Fork Road, near Big Branch, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of second-degree cruelty to animals.
A criminal complaint against Ferguson accuses him of shooting the dog several times, even though the dog was not being aggressive.
Mountain Top News has obtained a copy video of the incident from Brandon Price. It shows a man walk from a neighboring property and shoot the dog. Four gunshots can be heard, followed by the animal’s screams, before it runs away.

According to the complaint, the dog lived and is being treated by a veterinarian.
Second-degree cruelty to animals is a misdemeanor in Kentucky, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and a $500 fine.
Ferguson was released on his own recognizance, 20 minutes after being booked in the jail. He is due in court June 1 for arraignment.
