CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has reported that a coal miner was killed in an accident Monday in McDowell County.
Steven Hively, 52, of Phillipi, was pinned by an air drill at Ramaco Resources’s Berwind Mine. He had 20 years of underground mining experience.
Hively’s death marks the fourth mining fatality in the U.S. this year, and the second in West Virginia.
