A Pike County man died over the weekend in an ATV crash.

According to a statement from Kentucky State Police, Chris Fields, 40, of Ransom, died as a result of injuries suffered in a crash just before 11 p.m. Sunday. The crash happened along the Left Fork of Blackberry Road.

According to the statement, the investigation into the crash indicated an ATV left the roadway, struck a guardrail and entered the creek, coming to rest on its top. Both Fields, who was a passenger on the vehicle, and the ATV’s operator were transported to Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center where Fields was pronounced dead from his injuries.

According to the statement drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have been factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.

The condition of the operator of the ATV was not released by police.
