Pike residents can volunteer in times of emergency

Pike County residents can volunteer in times of emergency.

According to a post on its Facebook page, the Pike County Health Department sponsors the Pike County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). Volunteers with the MRC include both medical professionals and those without medical backgrounds.

According to the health department, MRC units engage volunteers to strengthen public health and improve emergency response capabilities while also building resiliency in the community.

“They prepare for and respond to public health emergencies such as disease outbreaks and other natural disasters that have occurred many times in Pike County such as flooding,” the Facebook post says. “These volunteers are provided training, are pre-credentialed, and are also provided just in time training.”
