Diabetes is a serious medical condition that severely affects the world, especially the Eastern Kentucky community. With there being so many delicious sweets and homemade goods available these days, many people struggle by giving into sugary temptations. Pikeville Medical Center RN and Certified Diabetic Educator Sandra Chaney states that there is a support program that the hospital provides that can further educate those who are diabetic or those who want to become more aware of diabetes. Chaney says as a diabetic herself, she can relate and provide details of how she deals with it so others can safely manage their condition and live longer, healthier lives. The classes are on the last Monday of every month on the 11th floor of the May Tower in Dining Room #3.
