Wise County, VA — A regional police agency is mourning the loss of one of their own. According to the Virginia State Police, two people found in a wrecked pickup truck were suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities report 21- year-old Bailey S. Smith of Duffield, Virginia was an Officer with the Big Stone Gap Police Department and 26-year-old Emeri A. Connery of Coolville, Ohio were found dead at the scene and inside the wreck truck on Route 23. Smith was off duty at the time of the incident.
