Police: Man attempted to take knife into Pike jail

An Elkhorn City man is facing a felony charge for allegedly attempting to take a weapon into the Pike County Detention Center.

According to court documents, 29 year-old Michael Hayes Anderson, of Adam Branch Road, was arrested late Monday on a public intoxication charge. While being booked into jail, officials allegedly found a knife hidden in Anderson’s boot.

Anderson was charged with a felony count of first-degree promoting contraband. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday in Pike Circuit Court, and is due back in court June 21st.
