
McDOWELL, Ky. — Police are on the hunt for a suspect, following a murder overnight in Floyd County.
A body was found at a home along Route 680 at McDowell shortly before midnight following what police said was a fight, according to an eyewitness who reported the incident.
Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said neither of the two men reported to have been in the fight was at the scene, but a blood trail led deputies to victim’s body.
The victim has been identified as Patrick Shepherd, 53, of McDowell. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Police are looking for Michael Colley, 41, whose last known address was a homeless shelter in Louisville. He is being described as a suspect in the murder. Colley is described as 6 feet tall and 212 lbs. He was last reported wearing a dark colored jacket, dark colored sweatpants and reflective athletic shoes.
Colley should be considered armed and dangerous. Police ask that anyone with information as to his whereabouts call 911 or the Kentucky State Police at (606) 433-7711.
