The driver of a pickup truck that allegedly caused a pair of wrecks on Wednesday could face criminal charges.
Pikeville Police told EKB News that a pickup truck driving recklessly on U.S.23 collided with three vehicles, causing two separate wrecks, and resulted in two people being transported to Pikeville Medical Center. Pikeville 911 Director Paul Maynard said calls began coming in about the truck prior to the second wreck, which occurred on Exit 24 off of U.S. 23. The first crash occurred on South Mayo Trail near Glam Salon and Spa.
Following the crash, Maynard said, the driver of the truck began to flee the scene on-foot and was captured along U.S. 23. Charges, he said, are likely to be filed.
The name of the driver of the pickup truck has not yet been released. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. See the attached video for more information.
