Police use tracks in snow to arrest robbery suspect

Seldon Barker

JACKSON, Ky. — Jackson Police and Mother Nature teamed up to arrest a suspect in an attempted armed robbery early Tuesday morning.

Police say Seldon Barker, 26, of Jackson, walked into Shell Mart in Jackson around 1 a.m. to buy a pack of cigarettes. But police say he then pulled the handle of a yard tool out of his pants and began beating the clerk with it, as he unsuccessfully attempted to get cash out of the register.

Officers investigating the attempted robbery got some help from the first snowfall of the season, as they were able to track his footprints from the store to the residence where he was staying.

Barker was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree robbery, wanton endangerment, assault and menacing. He remains in jail under a $1 million cash bond.
