The Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations Unit went to the home of Billy Sturgill, 59, of Colson, with a search warrant, where they found what they described as a large amount of meth; smaller amounts of cocaine, pills and marijuana; as well as scales, plastic bags, cash and four handguns.

Sturgill previously pleaded guilty to a felony meth possession charge in 2023.

Police also noted there was a small child in the home.

Outside, officers also spotted a Kawasaki side-by-side on which it appeared someone had tried to obliterate the vehicle identification number with grinding and spray paint. Police also found three cans of spray paint nearby.

Sturgill told police he bought the vehicle at a flea market for $800 within the last month.

Sturgill was arrested and charged with meth, cocaine and marijuana trafficking, endangering the welfare of a minor, felon in possession of a handgun and obscuring the identity of a machine. He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
