Santa Train to once again be drive-thru event

Organizers of the Santa Train have announced that this year’s event will once again be scaled down.

Instead of Santa visiting communities in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee by train, the event will consist of a drive-thru gift distribution at four locations. The distribution will take place Saturday, Nov. 20, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Food City locations in Shelbiana in Pike County, and in Clintwood, St. Paul and Weber City in Virginia.

Last year’s Santa Train was conducted in a similar fashion due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizers say the decision to do the same this year is out of an abundance of caution for the safety of attendees, volunteers and employees.
