Officer finds large amount of meth during traffic stop

McDOWELL, Ky. — Two Floyd County women were taken into custody after an officer pulled a car over for excessive window tint, then found nearly half a pound of meth in her car.

A state trooper spotted the car Friday night traveling north on Route 122 near McDowell. The car was occupied by two women, Stephanie Hall, 31, of Langley, who was the driver, and Briana Hunter, age and address unlisted. The officer thought they both appeared to be nervous, so he had them get out of the car for a weapons check, then obtained permission to search the car.

In the driver’s floorboard, the officer found a bag containing 215 grams of meth, divided into multiple plastic bags as if packaged for sale, along with money, syringes and 29 Neurontin tablets. Both women denied knowledge of the meth, and both were taken to jail.

Once at the jail, guards said that Hunter appeared to be overdosing, so she was rushed to a hospital, where the police report says she was placed on a ventilator.

Hall was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and other charges.

Charges against Hunter are not available in court records, since she was taken to the hospital.
