School Bus crash snarls traffic on U.S. 23

Pike County, Ky.– Traffic in the northbound lanes of U.S. 23 in Pikeville came to a standstill this afternoon as the Pikeville 911 Center received a call just after 3 o’clock of a possible 2-vehicle crash involving a Pike County school bus.

“The responders responded down and we did indeed find a two vehicle collision involving a Pike County school bus. That bus was from the Pike Central, Mullins area. There were 23 students on board, none of them were injured, and they were all in really good spirits.  We were able to get with the board, they are making arrangements now to go ahead and get these kids on to the house. Everything is fine down here right now. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to PMC to be treated for treatment. However, again the students on the bus were uninjured.”

The accident remains under investigation by the Pikeville Police Department.
