PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The failure to wear a seat belt resulted in a Pike County woman being sent to jail facing multiple counts of drug trafficking.

A Pikeville Police officer pulled a car over last Wednesday after noticing both the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts. After noticing both occupants appeared nervous, the officer asked to search the car and was given permission.
When the passenger, identified as Madison Lashae Balo, 31, of Virgie, stepped out of the vehicle, she was holding a black bag. The officer told her to leave it so he could search it as well.
Inside the bag, police found a bag of meth, a bag of marijuana, an unmarked bottle of pills, a set of scales with powder residue, and what was described as a large amount of cash.
Balo was arrested and charged with three counts of drug trafficking. She is being held in the Pike County jail on a $5,000 cash or property bond.
